We supply FBA 140 fluorescer for crack detection, marking tracing and other formulation applications.
Our FBA140 fluorescer, the fluorescent soluble coumarin powder now used for marking and tracing was traditionally used as an optical brightening agent for wool, silk, acetate and triacetate. Unfortunately, poor lightfastness limits its use as an optical brightening agent.
Fluorescent Brightening Agent 140, also known as 7-(diethylamino)-4-methylcoumarin or Coumarin 1, is a high-purity, solvent-soluble fluorescent dye in the coumarin family of organic fluorochromes. It acts as an optical brightener and fluorescent tracer by absorbing invisible ultraviolet (UV) light and re-emitting it as visible blue-white light.

Other information
This product is used in crack detection formulations and it also has other uses. An example of other use is optical brightener for wool and silk, but has poor light fastness.
It is soluble in aliphatic solvents such as ethanol and aromatic solvents such as toluene.
