Alternative names

FBA 113, Photine C, Disulpho OBA, FBA28

Description

Fluorescent Brightening Agent 28 Liquid is FBA 28 OBA used in volume in the paper, textile and non woven industries. Scientists and microscopists also use it as a fluorophor.

It is a product that the textile industry identifies as FBA 113, whilst the paper industry identifies as Disulpho OBA.

Textile Industry

It is is a highly substantive fluorescent brightening agent with excellent build up characteristics. It is most effective when applied to cellulosic fibres by exhaustion, particularly from a peroxide bleach in winch jet or package dyeing machine. It is also very effective when applied to nylon by exhaustion from a bath containing stabilised hydros. It is also suitable for application to cellulosic fibres by padding under conditions where there is no likelihood of tailing occurring.

Its charge is anionic and is compatible with non ionic and anionic finishes, but not cationic finishes.

Paper Industry

This highly substantive fluorescent brightening agent has applications in paper stock and coating. It is the best brightener for neutral and alkaline paper making. It is also the main brightener for coating with CMC. Its charge is anionic but it has better compatibility with cationics than tetrasulpho brighteners.
